AxisVM - Nodes and Beams codification

How it works

The automatic numbering of nodes and elements is based on their order of creation. However, this numbering can be customized using the “Renumber/Rename” function.

This function allows users to customize the numbering of elements and nodes for different purposes and properties. Nodes are numbered according to their coordinates, while elements are numbered based on the coordinates of their starting points, in ascending order. The hierarchical order for this operation is as follows:

  • The Z-axis is prioritized, with points at the lowest Z-values assigned the first numbers.
  • For points at the same height (same Z-value), the Y-value determines the order.
  • If both Y and Z coordinates are identical, the X-value becomes the deciding factor.

After separating elements such as columns and beams, they are displayed separately in the Table Browser:

I have created a basic example model of a cube to demonstrate this behavior, which I’ve uploaded for reference.

More detailed instructions on using this function can be found in Chapter 2.6.13 of the User’s Manual.

Work around for your case to shorten the tables in the table browser

If you are working with a large number of elements, you can shorten the table length by utilizing “Parts”. For instance, you can create a user-defined part for the columns and filter the modelling area to display only those columns. This way, the Table Browser will list only the filtered elements, which can also be included in the documentation.
